Belleek annual basket 2003, measures 7 inches in length and 2 inches high. Each annual basket celebrates an aspect of the various craft techniques that were or still are in use in creating a Belleek Basket. From the beginning of Belleek Basket making in the late 1860's, the structure of the basket and the typ of weave is able to tell its owner its age and when it was made. The floral decoration on each Belleek basket is the culmination of the art of the craft. Each craftsperson, after undergoing several years training, develops their own individual style of flower making. So much so, that each person has a signature feature, which is unseen by most, but to the trained eye of another flower maker identifies the maker as easily as a picture on a passport. This basket is a limited edtion piece only available during the year 2003.
